It took me several years to earn my wings, but by 1974 I was a full-fledged Space Cadet! After first hearing David Bowie‘s music a couple of years earlier, I could feel my tween years ch-ch-changing to face the strange! My glittery 16 year old self was captured for eternity by BBC filmmaker Alan Yentob for his masterwork Bowie documentary “Cracked Actor”. There I was pledging my eternal devotion to my cosmic soul star David Bowie. My immortal quote was: “I guess I’m living my fantasy. […] Bowie, he represents it all to me: excitement, space … see, I‘m just a space cadet, he’s the commander.”
After that, my bit was captured in every music compilation video of the 1980s onward. It has appeared in programs by Rolling Stone and Time Warner. My clip has opened film festivals all over the world. My quote has been tweeted, blogged, admired, and/or repeated by the lIke’s of Boy George, astronaut Chris Hadfield, and David Bowie himself in a version of his record “Jump They Say”. Most recently I was featured in trailers for the 2022 film, Moonage Daydream, as well as appearing in the film. I am also profiled in the latest version of David Bowie Glamour Magazine.
Hannah Lulu Breschard’s byline has appeared in most rock music publications and she has interviewed the likes of Lou Reed, Iggy Pop, and Patti Smith. Hannah has recently completed a memoir of her recollections and adventures as the original Space Cadet.
